A Citi D10X concept for stranger-to-stranger tipping (think buskers, valets, baristas) when neither party carries cash. Phase 1 validated four core assumptions on the QR badge; Phase 2 pivoted to enterprise go-to-market.

Challenge.

The concept tested whether strangers would transact through their phones in a low-friction tipping moment. Five candidate mechanics on the table: tap-to-tap NFC, AirDrop-to-picture, QR badge, business card, app-only. The decision was which mechanic to build, against what audience, with what value proposition.
